Jean COCTEAU. 3 autograph manuscripts (one signed), [1941-19 - Lot 57
Jean COCTEAU. 3 autograph manuscripts (one signed), [1941-1946]; 4 pages in-4. Two short texts presenting his work as director, costume designer and set designer for Georges FEYDEAU's La Main passe. About Eileen HERLIE who will play The Two-Headed Eagle in London, and the ballet The Young Man and Death: "Desiring for The Young Man and Death a great background music and refusing the sacrilege of translating Bach into choreography, I made my artists rehearse on modern rhythms. It is on these rhythms of which I suppressed the music (and that the public does not have to know), that the sublime music of Bach unfolds"... The autograph beginning of a speech, evoking Colette (1 p. in-4) is attached.
