[D.A.F. marquis de SADE]. Jacques NECKER (1732-1804) Control - Lot 315
[D.A.F. marquis de SADE]. Jacques NECKER (1732-1804) Controller General of Finances. L.S., Paris May 20, 1778, to Présidente de Montreuil; half-page fol.
Attached are 2 handwritten procedural documents
To the mother-in-law of the Marquis de Sade, then incarcerated at Vincennes.
Necker regrets not being able to oblige her in the arrangement proposed by the Comte de Sainte-Foy (1721-1795, military and literary figure, grandson of Louis XIV and Mme de Montespan): "it has been two months since he received at the Royal Treasury the payment of the indemnity that he offers today to delegate to you to pay the sum he owes you"...
Attached are 2 handwritten procedural documents between the Marquis de Sade's formidable mother-in-law, Marie-Madeleine Masson, widow of Claude-René Cordier (de) Montreuil, known during his lifetime as the "President of Montreuil" [who died on January 15, 1795], on the one hand, and her brother-in-law Marie-Joseph Cordier de Montreuil on the other, concerning the President's estate. These copies of a judgment of 22 germinal III (April 11, 1795) are dated 8 messidor VIII (June 27, 1800); the second bears on the back the address of the marquis's youngest son: "M. Armand de Sade, rue Cassette n°31".
