Gérard devoted to Italian theater. The work comprises a copper-engraved title by P.L. Charpentier, an epistle to the dukes and peers, a warning, an "abrégé historique sur l'ancien théâtre italien", eight copper-engraved pages giving the "Tables alphabétique & chronologique Des pieces Représentées sur l'Ancien Theatre Italien", followed by "Remarques sur les pièces de l'ancien théâtre italien" and finally the table of "Noms Des Auteurs Qui ont travaillé Pour l'Ancien Théâtre Italien", entirely engraved on copper on two leaves.
