Paris: Ancienne maison Quantin, 1894. - Large in-8, bradel orange half-maroquin with corners, smooth spine, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved (S. David). First edition in a small number and first printing of Pierre Vidal's illustration, comprising over 300 vignettes in the text, some watercolored, and 20 copper-engraved hors-texte in color. Attractive cover entirely illustrated in the art nouveau style by Léon Rudnicki. ONE OF 110 EXEMPLIES ON JAPANESE PAPER, enriched with a suite in black before the letter and with remarks of the hors-texts on japon, except for the frontispiece which has no remarks. A very fine copy bound by David.
