MORAND (Paul). - Lot 183
MORAND (Paul). Lewis et Irène. Paris: Émile-Paul frères, [1925]. - In-4, paperback, lined cover, slipcase. Illustrated first edition, with 15 original out-of-text color etchings by Jean Oberlé. Off-market copy on Rives laid paper, enriched with this autograph signed letter from the artist to Valère Bachmann: "à Valère Bachmann // champion du monde des éditeurs aimables // Jean Oberlé // 26." This dedication is accompanied by a fine full-page watercolor by the artist, which he captioned: "Après la lutte c'est les poids." Valère Bachmann was the son-in-law of Georges Mornay (1876-1935), founder of Editions Mornay, who sold his business to him in 1935. A very well preserved copy, despite the browned spine.
