József Rippl-Rónai (Hungarian, 1861-1927) Woman reading. 1894. Lithograph. 150 x 195 [248 x 317]. Printed in color. A very fine proof on thin buff vellum, from the large-margin first edition for the Revue blanche, signed with the monogram in pen and ink, finely lined on japon pelure. A few light freckles. Small oblique fracture, barely perceptible, consolidated at the lower left edge of the leaf. Another small fracture at upper margin. Small hole in subject at top. Full margins. On verso, stamp of the Boutaric / Sérusier sale (Ader-Picard-Tajan), June 19-20, 1984, slightly visible on recto. Stamp R. T.
