Luis Tomasello (La Plata, Argentina, 1915 - Paris, 2014) began his career as a bricklayer, carpenter and house painter, before studying at art schools in Buenos Aires. He co-founded the Salon Arte Nuevo with Carmelo Arden Quin in 1954, before moving to Paris in 1957. A sculptor and painter who converted to geometric abstraction and kinetic art in 1945, he has used relief since 1958, and treats light through structure and color. "His work clearly belongs to concrete art, due to its abstraction, use of systems, use of modules, principle of repetition or series, control of all elements before and during execution, neutral facture and mechanical fabrication" (Serge Lemoine). (Serge Lemoine.) Numerous solo exhibitions have been devoted to his work: Galerie Denise René (1962); Musée d'art moderne de la ville de Paris; Ateliers du Grand-Hornu, Mons (1976); Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (1985); Casa de las Américas, Galería Latino americana, Havana (1989), etc.
