Guanyin in partially gold-lacquered copper alloy, China, Ming period (1368-1644)
The bodhisattva is seated on a throne covered with a textile of many folds. On his right stands a kundika, a lustral water jug, and on his left perches a kalavinka bird. He is surrounded by Shancai, the "Child of Wealth", and Longnü, the "Dragon Girl", acolytes of the goddess of compassion. The whole rests on a four-legged openwork base. Traces of red lacquer.
