Pham Quang Hau (1903-1994) (atelier de), large polychrome an - Lot 185

Pham Quang Hau (1903-1994) (atelier de), large polychrome and gold lacquered wooden box decorated with deer, circa 1950 The lid, skilfully lacquered by the artist, reveals a vivid picture of a mysterious jungle. Deer and hinds flourish, grazing among century-old trees and flowering bushes. The color palette, orchestrated by the master lacquerer, is dominated by shades of red, ochre and gold, giving the whole a warm aura. Shades of red evoke the fiery twilight of the jungle, while ochre reveals the richness of the land that shelters the wildlife. Delicately applied touches of gold catch the light and create a magical, refined atmosphere. The sides of the box are lacquered a deep black, the underside adorned with the gold leaf seal of the artist's workshop, with the indication "PHAM HAU MAÎTRE LAQUEUR" .
