Fan with embroidered silk case, China, 20th century The bamboo strands and the dark-red lacquered master-brown. The paper leaf has a painted decoration of flowers on a gold powdered ground with a date and an inscription on one side: 時在庚辰秋七日 平江默道居主寫 which could read: "In autumn, on the seventh day of the ninth month of the year of the dragon, written by the master of Mo Dao's residence in Pingjiang", followed by a red seal. On the reverse, a poem calligraphed in lishu characters. Embroidered case decorated with exotic fruits. Length : 32 cm
