Théophile GAUTIER (1811-1872). L.A.S. and autograph note; 1p - Lot 93

Théophile GAUTIER (1811-1872). L.A.S. and autograph note; 1page in-8 and half-page in-12. Neuilly [July 1863], to Édouard Vandal, invoking "the old memories of the rue du Doyenné and the rue Marbœuf alas! already so far from us", to recommend Mlle Léonie Oger "who is coming out of your post office pachalick"... With bill from Vandal offering this autograph. Note on the publication of his Théâtre (October 1872), a few days before his death: "Les Mystères, comédies et prologues de M. Théophile Gautier were to be published today [...] by Charpentier éditeur in a large volume of 500 cents [sic] pages, and will not be put on sale until Monday due to a delay on the part of the printer. I'm going to resume the History of Romanticism where the foxglove interrupted it".
