[George SAND]. 2 relics. - Lot 148
[George SAND]. 2 relics.
Silk scarf once owned by George Sand, circa 1870 (small holes and rubbing), 80 x 90 cm.
Provenance: George Sand sale. Her family. Son entourage; Versailles, Hôtel Rameau, Me Georges Blache, June 11, 1965, no. 29.
A lock of George Sand's hair preserved under a piece of folded paper bearing these autographed lines by Henri Amic (1853-1929): "Cheveux de George Sand qui ont été donnés m'à Nohant le jour de sa mort, par sa belle-fille Lina Sand-Calamatta. Henri Amic". [Henri Amic sought George Sand's advice in his early days as a writer, and became a familiar figure in Nohant; he attended George Sand's last moments in Nohant, along with the novelist's children and a few faithful friends, about whom he has left precious and endearing memories].
The set belonged to René Pichard du Page (1886-1966); a letter from Aurore Sand addressed to him is enclosed. Sale June 28, 1985, Ader-Picard-Tajan, no. 361.
