Charles LINDBERGH (1902-1974). L.A.S., Sevenoaks October 30, - Lot 181
Charles LINDBERGH (1902-1974). L.A.S., Sevenoaks October 30, 1936, to Mr. Martini; 4pages in-8 on blue paper at his address Long Barn, Weald Sevenoaks; in English.
The letter is written from Sevenoaks, England, where the aviator and his family settled after the trial of his son's kidnapper and murderer in 1935. It refers to the Little Falls property that the Lindbergh family bequeathed to the state of Minnesota in 1931.
"Your letter makes me homesick from Minnesota and the fall days which are nowhere as beautiful as in a country in cold winters Seasons have never meant as much to me as they did during the years I lived in Minnesota". I have never been more sensitive to the seasons than during the years I lived in Minnesota)...
He has received many photos of the property from the Minnesota Historical Society and approves of the work that has been done and the trees that have been planted; he asks that the site be preserved and allow the people of Little Falls and the surrounding area to find pleasure there; a place where families can go on Saturday and Sunday and where children can enjoy playing in the creek and river: "it should be a place where families can go on Saturday and Sunday and where children can enjoy playing in the creek and river"...
