Gabriel POMERAND (1926-1972) - Lot 121
Gabriel POMERAND (1926-1972) For Sandi, 1970 Mixed media on paper. Signed twice. Dated lower right. (Small cuts and tears). 46 x 31 cm Gabriel Pomerand dedicates this work to his partner Sandi Collins, the first black American model, launched by Paco Rabanne in the late 60s. She was the first non-white model to grace the cover of L'Officiel in June 1970. In her article Une noire vaut une blanche, published in La Rue magazine, Pomerand wrote: "As for me, I look at black and white indifferently. Invariably, I forget the color of their skin, to linger my interest only in their spirit or their friendship." Gabriel Pomerand, Revue La Rue, n° 8, 1970.
