About his collaboration with Einstein on Warum Krieg? [The letter concerns the project for an epistolary exchange ("Eine Briefwechsel") between Freud and Einstein on the subject of war, to be published under the title Warum Krieg? in German, French (Pourquoi la guerre?) and English in 1933 by the International Institute for Intellectual Cooperation, on the initiative of the League of Nations' Permanent Commission for Letters and the Arts, headed by Jean Belime dit André Cœuroy (1891-1976), musicologist, editor-in-chief of the Revue musicale]. Freud received Coeuroy's letter, referring to Professor Einstein's invitation to give a talk on a subject of his choice and to make the discussion available to the Institute that Coeuroy directs. He has the honor of confirming that he has accepted this invitation. The importance of the problem and of the participants made any other decision impossible. Over the next few weeks, he will try to gather together what he can say, as a psychologist, about the possibility of avoiding war. He fears, however, that this will not fully meet his expectations.
