Kindjal dagger, Ottoman Caucasus, 19th century
Dagger with curved handle, arched end and scabbard with spherical stinger and raised ring with hanging loop. The whole in silver-plated copper with engraved vegetal decoration delimited by niello bands and pearled lines and metallic wires. The handle is embellished with metal cabochons and the scabbard with the crescent symbol embracing a star in relief. A floral spray engraved on the back and several fake Russian hallmarks. Straight, double-edged steel blade with three gutters.
Length: 59.5 cm
Some scratches, silvering, small welds on the stinger, wear and oxidation on the blade.
