Nimcha sword, Morocco, 19th century
Slightly curved, single-edged, flat-backed steel blade with double gutter, horn hilt, openwork metal ring at the base, three-quillon steel guard inlaid with gold plant scrolls around an eight-pointed star set in a square. Blade also gold-inlaid with floral decoration on the first third and engraved in the widest groove with Latin letters in capitals.
Length: 102.5 cm
Rust and oxidation, mainly on the quillons, accidents on the handle.
