Leonetto CAPPIELLO (1875-1942) - Lot 4
Leonetto CAPPIELLO (1875-1942) Mint Pastille, 1906 Mixed media. Mounted on canvas. Signed lower right. (Tears, stains, pencil marks and rubbing). 129.5 x 96.5 cm Bibliography : Rennert, p. 98, no. 116. A stroke of genius as only the greatest advertising artists can achieve over the course of their careers. No arabesque system. Freeze frame: the sculpture of a bust of a faun stands out against the dark mass of tall foliage, blushing with pleasure as he sips a glass of liqueur through two straws. An image in vue, uncluttered, powerful, poetic, with a touch of humor that makes it unstoppable!
