[DECORATIVE ARTS - MANUSCRIPT]. Ornamentation. S.l., circa 1900. -In-folio manuscript, period gray cloth. An anonymous 32-page manuscript, perfectly calligraphed and probably for school use. It concerns ornamentation and studies its various forms, successively addressing geometry, nature, the trophy, ornamental flora, repetition, alternation, symmetry, radiation, combinations of vertical and horizontal lines, the network, curves of sentiment, the decorative background, etc. This is followed by a chapter on "Flora in art at different periods". The text is enhanced by several original pencil and watercolor drawings. The document ends with 9 unillustrated pages, including a later text entitled "Ouvrages de dames". It deals in turn with cheap book ornamentation, footed carpets, box making, fans, screens, screens, shells and fabrics.
