First illustrated French edition of this fine novel by Mary Weeb, translated by Jacques de Lacretelle and Madeleine T. Guéritte. Guéritte. It is illustrated with 32 original drypoints by Hermine DAVID (1886-1970), including one on the cover, one on the frontispiece, one on the title and 29 at the head of each chapter. Limited edition of 240 copies plus a few contributor's copies; this is one of those reserved for contributors, specially printed for the artist on Arches vellum paper, with a suite of black illustrations on Malacca. Soiling and stains to the slipcase. Frequent foxing on the cover and throughout the book.
