JEWISH PRAYERS IN GERMAN - Lot 81
JEWISH PRAYERS IN GERMAN Julius Heinrich Dessauer, Tehilat El oder Sammlung deutscher und hebräischer Gebete für Schule und Haus. Zum Besten der Jugend, mit einem Vorworte von Dr. Aub, Erlangen, Theodor Bläsing, 1836. Period fatigue boards, fresh interior. Handwritten letter from A. Ottensoeser to Benno and Theodor Fleischmann. Collection of Hebrew prayers with German translation for use by young people; an early example of a "modern" book of Jewish religious instruction. The German verse translations are strongly inspired by Lutheran liturgy.
