[RONSARD (Pierre de)] - MARTINEAU (Charlote). In memory of Ronsard. S.l., ca. 1905. - Manuscript in-4, 310 x 244 : (45 ff. last blank). In leaves, in a blond calf folder decorated on the first cover with an embossed decoration depicting roses between two columns and the motto "avant partir" ("before leaving"), on the top center has been added a chased metal escutcheon bearing Ronsard's painted coat of arms. Very fine early 20th-century manuscript entitled En souvenir de Ronsard, written by a certain Charlote (sic) Martineau. It is a historical and literary description of the manor house of La Possonnière, Ronsard's birthplace, and its surroundings, through the life of the famous poet. Whether a personal work or a commission, this unpublished manuscript has been carefully calligraphed on Whatman paper. It includes 38 superb original watercolors and 3 Indian ink drawings, set in the text with the exception of the full-page portrait of Ronsard at the head. The copy is preserved in a fine calf folder, decorated with a beautiful embossed decoration and Ronsard's coat of arms. Some wear and tear, missing at the bottom of the spine.
