A violet-wood chest of drawers with a curved front and sides, opening five drawers in three rows, the royal red marble top resting on curved, pinched uprights terminating in cambered claw feet, beautifully decorated with gilt bronze falls and openwork apron, handles and lion's paws; (small chips). Attributed to François Lieutaud (1665-1748). Louis XV period, circa 1730-1740. H. 86cm, W. 144cm, D. 67cm The general style of this chest of drawers, with a central indentation in the lower drawer, as well as that of the gilded bronze decoration, notably the falls decorated with a completely smooth central oval and the very characteristic keyhole escutcheons, can be found on several pieces of furniture stamped or attributed to François Lieutaud.
