An important and beautiful buti "fetish" in the classical style, featuring the emblematic mabina scarification marks, beard and large crown-shaped headdress in the imwu style. The very fine size of this work reinforces the geometric rhythm of the sculpture, and recalls the bent-legged attitude of the men during their sacred nikibi dance. Téké, Democratic Republic of Congo Wood, cord, large remnants of the ritual charge largely missing, erosion and small visible chips, very fine old patina.
