A lot bringing together two very rare stools, including a su - Lot 44
A lot bringing together two very rare stools, including a superb example. These stools were used by Tsogho men, initiates of Bwiti, and also seem to have been a privilege of evovi judges, as shown by the photo taken by Jacques Viault and published on page 146 n°116 in the book Tsogho Les Icônes du Bwiti. See Tsogho Les Icônes du Bwiti, B. Goy, Ed. Gal. Bernard Dulon Paris 2016, for the photo referenced. Mitsogho, Gabon Wood, old cracks, visible accidents and chips, old breaks, beautiful old patina. H.: 24.5 and 27.5cm Provenance: Jacques Viault Collection, acquired in the Eteke region
