A very old Janus crest, with powerful, expressive faces featuring large, traditional scarifications carved in relief in the most beautiful ancient style. The upward-braided headdress is covered with the old traditional cotton fabric in a blue-green hue, also characteristic of the oldest crests in the corpus. This crest was included in the landmark exhibition "Duen-Fubara" at the Galerie Hélène Kamer in 1975. Boki or Idoma, Nigeria Wood, plant fibers, accidents and old breaks visible on the basketry crest, old and beautiful patina from use.
