Édith PIAF. L.A.S. "Edith", Hollywood July 5, 1955, to "Mon - Lot 143
Édith PIAF. L.A.S. "Edith", Hollywood July 5, 1955, to "Mon petit Bonhomme" [her husband Jacques Pills]; 2pages in-4 on Château Marmont letterhead. Beautiful love letter to her husband, and about his health worries. On her health problems: "I may have to go back to the clinic for a few days for my nerves [...] for 3 days I'll be under observation for my head and I'll have X-rays taken to see how I react at various times". [...] Roland [Avellis], our separation and the troubles with Las Vegas, you don't know how mean people are and how hard you have to fight, at twenty you can't see anything but now I realize how wrong it all is, but I'll win because I want to, as long as I have a drop of blood in my veins, I'll fight". She would like to spend a few months alone with her husband, "but then I'll go back to fighting like before!"... She concludes: "I love you little darling and I miss your sweetness terribly, your calm too oh! it's so good to be calm. I love you. And she signs: "Oiseau". She adds a few words of reassurance at the top of the letter, which she signs "Edith".
