A notice of inclusion in the catalog raisonné of Auguste Rodin's drawings by Mme Buley-Uribe may be requested, at the purchaser's expense.
Our drawing dates from the period when Rodin worked for the Manufacture de Sèvres between 1879 and 1885. It is preparatory to a Sèvres porcelain plaque dated 1880-82, a version of which is kept at the Iris et B. Gerald Cantor Center For Visual Arts at Standford University (inv. 1974.192.2).
Rodin also engraved our drawing in reverse in his famous lithograph Le Printemps.
The annotation "vasque" in black pencil may refer to an early, underlying study of a motif for Sèvres.
