As its name suggests, this book of photographs of Eastern European Jewry reflects Jewish life in these countries before it was definitively destroyed by the Nazis. The author has selected hundreds of photographs, each one more moving than the last, recalling the daily life of these Jews, as well as their synagogues, religious schools and trades.
Among the photographers featured in this book are Roman Vishniac, M. Kipnis and A. Kacyzna.
