[COLLECTIVE]. La Lune en rodage I. - Lot 18
[COLLECTIVE]. La Lune en rodage I. Basel: Panderma, [1960]. In-4, 32.3 x 34.5 cm. Bound in Japanese style with wood-style boards, decorated on the first board with a vertical band of brocaded silk on the edge of the spine and in the center with the title in black surmounting a metallic composition in relief by Giò POMODORO, woven cloth spine overhanging slightly on the second board (publisher's binding). Remarkable and very rare collective publication printed in 215 copies, featuring 63 (of 64) graphic and literary works, most of them original and signed, making it one of the most ambitious contemporary art publications of the 20th century. They are mounted on paper in a variety of colors. Signed works and texts include those by Raymond HAINS, Piero MANZONI, Victor VASARELY, Lucio FONTANA, Jean ARP, ARMAN, Eugène IONESCO, Marcel BÉALU, Lucien CLERGUE, Pierre-André BENOÎT, Enrico BAJ, Camille BRYEN and others. Lucio Fontana's signed work is unique and therefore different in each copy, as are those by Raymond Hains and Hundertwasser. The first cover of the binding features a relief composition by Gió POMODORO, different on each copy. According to the list printed at the head, Sonderborg's work is missing, but it seems never to have been bound in the copy. Two further volumes were published in 1965 and 1977. The publication brochure is enclosed. Spine cloth frayed at the hinges, rubbing at the center of the first cover with damage to the title, corners dulled.
