Jean COCTEAU (1889-1963) - Lot 28

Jean COCTEAU (1889-1963) 2 L.A.S., June 1956; 1page in-8, and 1page in-4. June 2. "I've just returned from Picasso's house. Together we unpacked the new suite and together we found it marvelous, far above what is given for masterpieces of the genre. I'd be very proud to preface your album or your exhibition (which would be perfect at Jacques Perrin - Librairie Morihien - Palais-Royal, 11 rue de Beaujolais). None of this is "picturesque". Nothing "poetic" about your grace and power". June 9th. "Thank you from the bottom of my heart, my dearest Clergue. I think I'll even use one of your birds as a model for one of my frescoes. In this way, I will greet your presence. Tomorrow I'm off to the Oxford medieval festival"... We enclose 3 letters from Lucien CLERGUE to Cocteau, May-June 1956, including 2 minutes a.s. and a double carbon. CCC p. 20-21. Lots 24 to 68 are sold on provisional with possibility of reunion
