Jean COCTEAU (1889-1963) - Lot 40
Jean COCTEAU (1889-1963) L.A.S. with drawing, November 9, 1957; 1page in-4 (27 x 21 cm) to address 4, Place des États-Unis, envelope. Black pencil drawing of a poster showing a Provençal woman in profile, with fish-shaped eyes. In the margin he writes: "It's a joy to learn that there are new images. As far as Villefranche is concerned, I'm proud to owe you my models". And he describes "don Enrique" in his Toros as "a ridiculous oaf. In the enchantment shown to me by the witness object and the anguish of being responsible, he discovers morbidity and disgusting filth". CCC p. 40. Lots 24 to 68 are sold by provisional with possibility of reunion
