Jacques Villon (Gaston Duchamp, known as) (1875-1963) Le Nain Auguste. 1907. Etching. 165 x 225. Ginestet and Pouillon 182. Very fine early proof on cream laid paper, of the 1st state (of 2), before the aquatint grain, signed in pencil. Slight dusting at edges and minor soiling (ink) on verso. Full margins. Very rare. Edition of a few proofs (before the 60-proof reprint of the final state in 1964 for the Guilde de la Gravure, Lausanne). Provenance: Michel Romand (1929-2013), great-grandson of Edmond Sagot (1857-1917).
