Bibliography: Odile Nouvel-Kammerer, Papiers peints panoramiques, Paris, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Flammarion, 1990 p. 286 and 287.
Source of inspiration: The statue of Armide is a life-size reproduction of James Pradier's Pandora (exhibited at the Salon of 1850 and in London in 1851), with only the diadem replaced by bindweed. The foundry Labroue marketed a reduction of this Pradier sculpture in 1856.
