CORDESSE (Louis) - QUIGNARD (Pascal).
Petits traités.
[Paris] : Clivages, [1981-1982]. - 2 volumes 179 x 98: 110 pp, (17 ff. fourteenth and last blank), printed cover; 148 pp, (18 ff. fifteenth and last blank), printed cover.
Original edition of the first two volumes of this collection of Pascal Quignard's Petits traités hétérogènes, which eventually numbered 8, the last published in 1990.
" The Petits traités are neither essays nor fiction. They didn't fit into any genre. They were short, torn-up arguments, contradictions left open, negative hands, aporias, fragments of tales, vestiges. I retained only what of time was rejected by History as it pretended to write its great false narrative. I retained from the books of the Ancients only what the Norm expelled from the literatures of the past to establish its collective and academic authority. I've always loved disavowed things. It's almost become second nature. We look down on what we despise, whereas the treasure that remains of the human world is perhaps what it has rejected. Pascal Quignard. (Gallimard presentation)
There are 756 copies of each of the two volumes. These are among the 56 on Arches laid paper signed by the author and the artist at the justification, and more especially the 10 head copies illustrated with 12 original full-page drypoints by the painter and illustrator Louis CORDESSE (1938-1988) and a suite of 18 signed engravings on chine.
Exemplaires très bien conservés.
