Eugène Delâtre (1864-1939) Moon effect (Étretat). 1905-1906. Etching and aquatint. Sight: 685x480mm. I.F.F. 9 (under the erroneous date "circa 1898"). Printed in color. Fine proof on vellum, numbered, dedicated "à M. Guillaumin / bien amicalement et avec / mes meilleurs souhaits pour 1909" and signed in pencil. Some light foxing. Light moisture aureoles and small fractures perceptible at foot. Margins. Frame (not examined out of frame). We would like to thank Mr. Gérard Jouhet who kindly provided us with the following information: "This plate was presented in 1906 at the Salon de la Gravure Originale en couleurs under the titleEffet de lune (Étretat). At the same Salon, three other aquatints were presented: La Tempête (Étretat); Aurore (Étretat); Couchant (Étretat). Delâtre stayed there in August 1905. The edition date of this etching is therefore almost certainly 1905-1906."
