Portrait of a woman, Iran Zand, late 18th century Gouache on paper depicting a woman seated on a stone bench on a terrace enclosed by a white balustrade. She wears a long green veil with floral motifs, a pink tunic revealing her breasts, and pants striped with patterned bands. Her right leg is crossed over her left knee, her foot unshod. A peacock stands on the ground beside her. Surmounted by a calligraphic cartouche in Persian nasta'liq in black ink and mounted as an album page on cardstock with colored borders and a gray margin painted with floral scrolls in gold and polychrome.
