NORBERT PIERLOT (1919-1979) - Lot 183
NORBERT PIERLOT (1919-1979) Small bowl with re-entrant neck. Tenmoku glazed stoneware. Signed PIERLOT on the reverse. Diameter: 11cm NORBERT PIERLOT (1919-1979) Trained as an actor, Norbert Pierlot discovered ceramics through his wife, Jeanne, née Boutet de Monvel. Together, they acquired the Château de Ratilly, which became a mecca for stoneware and contemporary ceramics. Norbert Pierlot's work evolved in parallel with the exchanges and encounters that took place at Ratilly. Gradually, he devoted himself entirely to pottery, then, in the 1970s, to limitless plastic research. His large, sometimes monumental, chamotte pieces go beyond their utilitarian function to explore matter, space and light.
