JACQUES POUCHAIN (1927-2015) - DIEULEFIT WORKSHOP Sans-titre Bas-relief for hanging. Stoneware. Signed and located Jacques POUCHAIN Dieulefit on the back. Height: 40cm - Length: 40cm- Depth: 5,5cm JACQUES POUCHAIN (1927-2015) Jacques Pouchain first trained in architecture before turning to abstract art, then to ceramics. He opened his own workshop in Dieulefit in the late 1940s. His work, composed of both utilitarian and artistic pieces, bears witness to a certain modernity and is characterized by engraved decorations and brown and black glazes, inspired by the natural world and animals. In the 1960s, he explored more abstract forms and architectural volumes. His work evolves towards almost surrealistic forms, combining elegant deformation and pure modelling.
