Full brown marbled calf, smooth spine decorated with gilt fleurons, title in gold lettering on burgundy morocco, gilt fillet on the edges, red edges (period binding). LII, 341 pp. and 1 f.n.ch. (approbation), engraved coat-of-arms on title, typographical ornaments (headbands, lettrines and endpapers). Upper spine detached, rubbed. Rare pocket edition of Louis XIV's ordinances of December 1792. They concern the transport of goods by water and inland waterways; the trade in and measurement of grain, wine, cider, liqueurs, freshwater fish, hay, flour, vegetables, fruit, salt, lard and fats, foodstuffs; driftwood, charcoal, plaster, lime, etc. A treasure trove of information on the small trades associated with the ports of Paris. Pleasant contemporary copy, very clean inside.
