Max JACOB. Autograph poem with drawings, Mort d'un musicien; - Lot 472
Max JACOB. Autograph poem with drawings, Mort d'un musicien; 1page in-4, drawing on verso. Working manuscript of this 27-line poem, collected in L'Homme de cristal (1967, p.47). "Her songs shone with a summer face On the willow on his knees and on the elm on horseback [...] Mort! the cords of flesh and asbestos [...] A hand went astray that had no arm and slid over the strings like a boa snake on the happy strings played in the darkness created by a genie in heaven a funereal air". In the margin, small pen drawing of a profile; verso, large pen drawing, evocation of ancient ruins with a head of Mercury.
