Alexander Stewart HERSCHEL (1836-1907) British astronomer. L.A.S., Hawkhurst October 15, 1863, to Abbé Moigno; 2pages in-8 (letter partly annotated, corrected and crossed out by Moigno for publication); in French. The letter accompanied a survey "of the heights of all the meteors of the past August 10", whose trajectories he was able "to determine with the observations made at Hawkhurst. There is real agreement among the final heights". He adds that "the observations were all made on a calm night [...] and in the short duration of an hour and a half"...
