Represented by the Comédiens Français ordinaires du Roi. Geneva, 1761. - 2 works in one volume, in-8, red morocco, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, gilt fleuron at one corner of the front cover, ornate ribbed spine, gilt roulette framing the inside, blue moiré silk lining and endpapers, gilt head, untrimmed (20th-century binding). Genuine rare first edition of "Alzire" and first edition, in 71 pages, disowned by the author, of "Zulime". "Alzire" is complete with epistle to Madame du Châtelet, errata and approbation. An I has been added in ink to the title date of "Zulime" to give the year 1762. A good copy in modern imitation binding. Hinges rubbed. Some foxing and spotting, not serious.
