CASTELLAN (Antoine Laurent). Lettres sur la Morée et les îles de Cérigo, Hydra et Zante. Paris: H. Agasse, 1808. - 2 parts in one volume in-8, seeded calf, gilt roulette framing the boards, smooth spine decorated, speckled edges (period binding). First edition of this account of a voyage to the Orient by painter and engraver Antoine-Laurent Castellan (1772-1838) in the late 18th century. The work is illustrated with 24 copper-engraved out-of-text figures by the author and based on his works, as well as two fold-out maps engraved by Tardieu. In 1811, a supplement was published entitled "Lettres sur la Grèce, l'Hellespont et Constantinople", which is missing here. Damage to head cover, corners dulled, minor worm damage to first board.
