Vincent d'INDY (1851-1931). L.A.S., Paris May 22, 1885, to Georges Marty; 3 pages in-8.
Following d'Indy's recent victory in the Concours musical de la Ville de Paris [with Le Chant de la cloche], in front of his fellow competitors Georges Marty and Georges Hue, both of whom he appreciates: "I know Hue's work and I like it very much; last Friday, while waiting for the jury to arrive, I committed the indiscretion of leafing through the beginning of your score, whose orchestral prelude seduced me enormously". He would be delighted if Marty would send him his score, "for it seems that we are colleagues in the ways of modern art and forward, which I am delighted about, for the more of us that push the wheel, the faster the artistic chariot will move"...
