Louis PASTEUR (1822-1895). Autograph notes in the margin of an issue of L'Union médicale, May 27, 1880; 20p. in-8 pamphlet, in slipcase with title page on spine. L'Union médicale, Journal des intérêts scientifiques et pratiques, moraux et professionnels du corps médical, publishes, in its issue of Thursday May 27, 1880 (34th year, no. 66), a highly biased "Bulletin sur la séance de l'Académie de Médecine" of May 27, signed "A.T.", which begins as follows: "M. Pasteur and the doctrine of germs suffered a rather serious setback today at the Academy.... Pasteur underlined several passages in ink, and made 3 autograph notes in the margin, concerning Hippolyte Blot's attacks on hen cholera and the vaccine: "Completely inaccurate. It is M. Blot who has understood thus"; and: "has not understood". Then, on the subject of demonstrations, Pasteur notes: "There were none".
