Charles-Georges, marquis de CLERMONT-GALLERANDE (1744-1823) maréchal de camp, defended the Tuileries on August 10. L.A., Paris February 15, 1792, to the Countess de Lage de Volude, at the waters in Aachen; 1page in-4, addressed with red wax seal. On revolutionary effervescence in Paris in early 1792... Châstelet, a large party and M. de Lafay. [Lafayette] who is at the head wants to be the Washington. The assembly is monarchical at the moment, but it is afraid, it is threatened. [...] We walk on thorns and sleep on heaps of saltpetre and asphalt, all we need is a spark, and if that happens, all is said and done with us"... Etc.
