Provenance : Sale by Me Bellier, Paris, Hôtel Drouot, November 27, 1942, lot 82. In "Hier (Souvenirs)", published in 1946, in the chapter entitled "Guerre de 1914", Halicka recalls her stay in Touraine in 1918: "We finally arrived at La Chapelle-sur-Loire, near Saumur, the destination of our trip, where Lewitzka had reserved a room for herself, forgetting about me. [...] In the end, everything settled down in pretty Touraine, where heavy American trucks filled with tall, cheerful, magnificently equipped soldiers drove past with a thunderous roar".
