He recommends Mr. Blumm to them, the author of a work on Swedish statistics, provided by Count de Slowenhielm, the Swedish minister, “as highly commendable and of the utmost scrupulous accuracy.” I would consider it a true triumph for our literature if you were to publish a translation of it, which would be welcomed not only in France but also in England and even in Germany and in all countries where statistics are studied—and there are many such countries today. I therefore believe I am serving the scholarly community of Europe by enabling you to undertake this endeavor, which, incidentally, involves very little risk”…
