Jean-Baptiste SAY (1767–1832). 3 letters, Paris 1830 and undated; 3 pages, in-8 or in-4 format, one address.
April 4, 1830, to Dupont de l’Eure. He requests payment of the compensation owed to Charles Comte [his son-in-law], editor of *Le Censeur*, and the appointment of Raoul Duval—“son of Mr. Duval, one of the counselors of the Court of Amiens”—as “deputy prosecutor in a criminal division of the Royal Court of Paris”…
July 20, to Auguste Hilarion de Keratry, of the *Courrier français*. He reminds him of “a short article on the collection of speeches by Pitt and Fox that Mr. Keratry had promised to have published in the *Courrier français*.” He sends him “another, more substantial article on Mr. Dupin’s work […] and would be very pleased if it could be published without too much delay”…
July 25, to a general whom he thanks for his “excellent speech. This is clearly marked by sound principles. Your plan for military organization strikes me as excellent. I only regret that it is for a speech delivered from the rostrum, to which one cannot give sustained attention. One can only truly reflect on what enters through the eyes. Your work would make for a useful pamphlet” to be distributed to administrative officials and members of parliament…
An autographed note is enclosed for Mr. Vaquier, to be given to the coachman along with a letter “containing the key to Mr. Say’s trunk.”
